Gulu city Christians reenact Jesus's crucifixion

In Gulu , hundreds of Christians celebrated Good Friday by acting out  Jesus' crucifixion.

Since 2006, Christians in Gulu City have joined forces to chronicle and reenact the events leading up to Jesus Christ's death. This has resulted in an ecumenical production that highlights some of the key points during the Jointjourney of the cross.

Community theatre participants come from the local Anglican, Catholic, and Orthodox churches in and around Gulu City, Northern Uganda.

This yearly production, which aims to educate the youth while portraying the sufferings of the promised Saviour, has been introduced by the Gulu Archdiocese and has been in existence for the past eighteen years.

For the past three years, Collins Johnson Ojok, a catechist affiliated with Gulu Cathedral, has been assuming the role of Jesus Christ on Good Friday.

Ojok works as the deputy head teacher II at Gulu City's St Joseph's Technical School.

Ojok is dressed in a crystal white vestment stained with scarlet this year to symbolise the sorrow that Jesus endured before his crucifixion.

Multimedia Journalist Claude Omona captured some of the images
