Africa's wealthiest person, Aliko Dangote has reportedly promised to visit Uganda soon to make an assessment of the investment opportunities.

Dangote's real time net worth at the time of publishing this story, according to Forbes was $14.3b (about shillings 5.5 trillion), which is about a fifth of Uganda's current financial year budget. 

The revelations come in light of a meeting between him and Senior presidential advisor for special operations Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The First Son met Dangote, who is also the chairperson of Dangote Group at the latter's home in Lagos, Nigeria last week.

Reports indicate that the two discussed Dangote’s interest in investing in Uganda, while Muhoozi told him about areas available for him to invest in and that the Government would welcome it.

Dangote Cement has the capacity to produce 48.6 million tonnes annually and has operations in 10 countries across Africa. In comparison, Uganda's cement production in 2021 was nearing seven million tonnes per annum with a 2.4 million local demand.
