President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the nation at 8:00pm today, Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

A statement released on Monday from the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) says the address will be "on the progress of operations against Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists and other security-related issues".

The President on Thursday, December 28, 2023, warned the ADF rebel outfit that they will never disrupt the harmony and impose sharia law on Uganda.

The president’s address is also expected to touch on the recent turn of events including the attack on reknowned House of Prayer Ministries pastor Aloysius Bugingo and his bodyguard. The bodyguard died in the attack and was buried late last week.

Now, a section of Arua city residents say, despite the President’s focus on the ADF rebel outfit, he needs to put emphasis on the internal security concerns in the country.

Stephen Candia, a journalist in Arua city, says the President should be concerned about the cases of insecurity at family and community levels.

Diana Lenia, another resident of Arua city appeals to thePpresident to find a long-lasting solution to the rampant gun attacks in the country.

Richard Andama Ferua, the former district chairperson for the greater Arua, commended the President for his consistent efforts in the fight against insecurity in the country and beyond.
