Residents of Wankanya ward, located in Kikyusa Town Council in Luwero district, were on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, gripped with shock following the recovery of a decomposing human head.

The deceased is suspected to have been a victim of murder. It is reported that some clothes were also recovered at the scene where the head suspected to be of a child was found.

Police also reported that detectives who combed the area for evidence also picked an earring from the scene. 

The area village chairperson, Sam Nkwanga who confirmed the incident told Police that he received a call from one of his residents, Lydia Nansubuga, a teacher at Kikyusa Modern Primary School, alerting him.

“She told me they discovered body parts while she was supervising pupils who were weeding in the school cassava garden,” Nkwanga said.

The Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, Sam Twineamazima, on Wednesday revealed that other items recovered by the investigators are: used clothes including a white and black overall, Yellow trousers, a pamper, a Red sweater, a red dress and a sandal of the left foot.

He added that the head was taken to Mulago City mortuary for postmortem examination. By Thursday, police had not identified the deceased since no one had claimed the head. 

Police has appealed to the members of the public or anyone who could have any information that can lead them to the deceased’s family to contact them immediately.

Besides, most of the residents who looked at the head were overheard saying, the deceased’s face was not familiar in their area.
