Abasaigi wins Bunyoro Enganda tournament

The Abasaigi clan has won the 2023 Bunyoro Kitara kingdom MTN Enganda football tournament.
The Abasaigi Clan defeated the Abahango Clan 5-4 on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in an intense match.
Bunyoro Kingdom Premier Andrew Byakutaga appreciated the discipline of the players in all the counties across the region.
“I have personally attended all the games which were held in all the counties in Bunyoro. We have seen high levels of discipline by the players and the fans and that is very good for the development of sports talents in Bunyoro,” Byakutaga said.

The Clan/Enganda competitions, which were sponsored by MTN Uganda, aimed at promoting culture, sports talents, and unity among the people of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom.
Bicycle competition
Parallel to the exhilarating football action, a separate competition involving 80 bicycle riders from 15 counties of the kingdom took place in Hoima City.
Ali Magaya, representing Buruli County in Masindi, secured the top position in the men's category, earning a cash prize of shillings two million, while Jennifer Kusemererwa, also from Kigorobya County in Hoima district, triumphed in the women's category, earning a similar cash prize.
Byakutaga appreciated MTN for supporting the kingdom in organising the games and asked all the clans to ensure that next year they participate.
He said that each district in Bunyoro got an opportunity to host this year's Enganda football matches and Amasaza bicycle racing competition.
“The tournament is promoting the talents of our people, exposing them to competition and mobilising clans for various developments,” Byakutaga said.
