Tributes are pouring from politicians and leaders congratulating the Speaker and her husband on the double bundle of their newborn set of twins.

Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among and Budiope East MP, Moses Magogo got the babies on Monday.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja thanked the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, for announcing the news of the couple getting twins yesterday, October 23.

“Thank you and allow me to join all Ugandans to celebrate and congratulate my sister, the Rt. Hon Speaker Nalongo Anita Among and thank her for giving my grandson Hon Magogo another great name Salongo. Congratulations, May God bless you and our new babies,” Nabbanja wrote on her account on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi also took to X to send his and family’s “warmest congratulations” to the couple on the “blessed occasion” of the birth of their twins.

“Who knew happiness could be delivered in so many tiny bundles! May the birth of the twins bring you and your family great happiness and fulfillment!” he wrote.

Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga also posted on X, saying he joins the couple in the joy of the birth of their twin boys.

“I wish the boys God's blessings and good health. Hearty congratulations to Ssaalongo and Nnaalongo,” Mayiga said.

Among revealed she was pregnant while meeting Pope Francis in Rome in August 2023, and asked him to bless her baby. Pope Francis then proceeded to bless her with a sign of the cross.

She also took to X on Tuesday to send their “sincere appreciation to all our distinguished leaders, colleagues from Parliament, friends and family for your prayers and outpouring of love”.

“We may not be able to respond to each and every one of you but we surely feel your love! Mother, father, and the twins are doing great and we pray that the Almighty God blesses you all abundantly!” she wrote.
