The Uganda women's national rugby sevens team, the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens, have booked their ticket to the 2024 final Olympic qualifier after beating Zambia 29-0 to finish third at the Rugby Africa Women's Sevens that climaxed today, Sunday, in Monastir, Tunisia. 

Mayimuna Nassozi, Racheal Mufuwa, and Peace Lekuru each registered a try before a brace from Sandra Lona. 



Muyimuna Nassozi then converted for four extra points. 

Uganda has also qualified for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series to be held next year. 

Earlier on, Uganda failed to reach the final after losing the semi-final 27-0 to neighbours Kenya. 



In the other semi-final, South Africa thumped Zambia 31-0. 

South Africa went on to win the two-day tournament with a 12-7 win over resilient Kenya. 

The Women Boks earned a direct slot in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games while Kenya joined Uganda for the repechage campaign and the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series.
