Four people have died on the spot following a fatal crash on the Mityana-Mubende highway.

The Thursday collision involved a white Mitsubishi Fuso with registration number UBK 415N and a blue motor vehicle with registration number UBH 369J Isuzu Elf at Munsa in Mityana municipality, Mityana district, on September 13, 2023, at around 5:00 pm.

Wamala Police region spokesperson Racheal Kawala said Robert Bukenya, 25, the driver of the Elf a resident of Nama, Mityana municipality, as well as three other male passengers, all died on the spot.

According to preliminary investigations, the Fuso was moving from Mityana to Mubende when it collided head-on with the Elf, which was coming from Mubende, as the latter was attempting to overtake a trailer.

According to Kawala, the vehicles were towed to Mityana Police Station, while the bodies were taken to Mityana Hospital for postmortem.

Kawala stated that efforts are being made to find the Fuso driver to be apprehended and face the law.

All drivers have been asked to only overtake when it is safe.
