The coach of Uganda's senior women’s football team, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi, has summoned a provisional squad of 36 players ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The Crested Cranes will face Algeria this month in a two-legged affair in the first round of the qualification for next year’s continental edition.

The team will enter the residential camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in Buikwe district on Wednesday to kick off preparations.

Uganda will host the first leg on September 20 at FUFA Technical Centre while the return leg will be held in Algeria's coastal city of Oran a week later.

Uganda is seeking to return to the continental showpiece for a second successive appearance and third overall, having played in Morocco last year.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Algeria will face either Burundi or Ethiopia at the final qualification stage.
