Experts from Japan trained in developing Cities have pointed out key strategies that need to be adopted by the government to upgrade the existing Kampala city to meet the required standards.

Hideyuki Sasaki from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) laid down several proposals, which include constructing more highway roads to reduce traffic congestion and upgrading metropolitan areas like Wakiso, Mukono, and Mpigi to reduce the number of people flocking into the City Center, among others.

Speaking during a politicians' consultative meeting held today in Kampala, Hideyuki emphasized that if the above measures are not implemented in the next 5 to 15 years, it will be very difficult to develop Kampala City, hence the need to take action now.
