Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) elders have asked Nandala Mafabi and Kizza Besigye questions related to ‘dirty money’.

The select Elders Committee (SEC) that was established to investigate the 'dirty money' party secretary general Nandala Mafabi allegedly received from State House was reacting to recent comments by former party president Besigye and current secretary general Mafabi about the same.

“Why did Besigye accept to keep dirty money at his Kasangati home when he is not the treasurer general? chairperson of the select elders committee Dr Frank Nabwiso said.

The query was raised during a media conference called to respond to Besigye faulting elders that they wrote an empty report not worth to be printed on paper at the party headquarters in Kampala on August 9.

The elders who were in a jovial mood laughed off Besigye rubbishing their report saying even the World Bank reports are not 100% accurate as they are criticised by the experts and, therefore, theirs would also attract criticism which in the elders' view was normal.

Nabwiso instead advised Besigye to be mindful of his legacy or else his reputation would go down the drain.

He criticised Besigye for not producing any evidence about the ill money saying the elders wanted to know the source of information from the four-time former presidential candidate so that the person would be interviewed.

The elders equally didn’t spare the party secretary general from his conduct about the alleged illegitimate shillings 300 million.

“Why did he take money to Besigye’s home instead of banking it into the party’s account?" Nabwiso said.

The former Kagoma county legislator was flanked by elder Robinson Kasozi, the former minister in President Yoweri Museveni broad-based government and FDC deputy spokesperson John Kikonyongo.

The elders denied receiving any money from the Nandala and FDC president Patrick Amuriat camp to be exonerated as alleged by Kira municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju.

“I have never been corruptible throughout my public service life. Even this suit I'm wearing I bought it some years ago,” Nabwiso said.

“I have never received any money from the Nandala camp. If they are saying my transport money facilitation when I come to the headquarters is the one then I accept I have received it,” Kasozi told reporters.
