The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has closed off its Kyadondo road-based office until next week, Richard Todwong the party secretary general has disclosed.
While addressing the media on Thursday (March 27) at the party secretariat, Todwong revealed that the party's top management decided to close off the party head offices to the public from Saturday, March 22, last week until April 2, 2025.
“We closed off the party secretariat and this is to help us do our final work on the party register and we feel that we are going to conclude by Wednesday next week.
We are doing the final verification of the register and we are checking village by village, crosschecking names, NIN numbers and making sure that village codes that we have put together are correct,” Todwong said.

He noted that the final stage of the digitisation is very sensitive, adding that this is why they had to close off the party head office and allow the party team to concentrate.
On a daily basis, the NRM party secretariat receives an average of 100 people from various parts of the country who have complaints against the party, defectors from other parties, visitors who wish to sign memorandums of understanding (MoU), among others.
Todwong revealed that they are using this very opportunity to separate members that are below 18 years of age from the party membership register so that the party can remain with members that are above 18 years of age.
“The voter register should have members that are 18 years of age and above, but the data that we collected was for members that are 16 years of age and above,” Todwong said, adding that they are using this time to screen out those that are below 18 years.
Todwong noted that once they are done with the party register, they are going to synchronise the information that they have and that of the Independent Electoral Commission and NIRA.
“For those that have issues that they need to bring forth to the party, they can reach out to us at our various party branches in the country. If it is an emergency, we can attend to it from the head office, but if it is not an emergency, our party branches are open in various parts of the country,” Todwong said.
