Local currency closes week on stronger footing

According to Absa traders  the unit was supported by "continued inflows from the interbank and residual month-end inflows, as dollar buyers stayed on the sidelines anticipating to benefit from further shilling strength."

Continued tightness in the money markets kept overnight yields elevated at averages of 11.92% during Friday’s session.

KAMPALA - The Uganda shilling maintained its strength during Friday’s session closing marginally strong at levels of  3830/3840 from the day’s opening of 3845/3855.

According to Absa traders  the unit was supported by "continued inflows from the interbank and residual month-end inflows, as dollar buyers stayed on the sidelines anticipating to benefit from further shilling strength."
