On June 18, 2023, President Museveni told the country that he had tested negative for COVID-19.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja says President Yoweri Museveni has fully recovered from COVID-19 and is busy performing his duties.

Nabbanja made the remarks while launching the 2022 local government management of service delivery performance assessment report at Hotel Africana in Kampala on Wednesday, July 5.

"As I was coming here, I talked to the President and he sent you greetings. He told me to tell you that he has fully recovered from COVID-19 and is busy doing his work," she told the 176 local government leaders.

These leaders came from 135 districts, 10 cities and 31 municipal local governments that were operational as of July 2021.

On June 18, 2023, President Museveni told the country that he had tested negative for COVID-19.

"On the war with Corona, it is now confirmed that I am a veteran graduate of the war with that enemy. It has been exactly 11 days since the battle started officially on June 7, 2023," he said in a tweet.

Local governments hailed

Nabbanja also used the occasion to say as central government, they appreciate the work local governments do for this country.

"Local governments are platforms through which national policies, laws and guidelines are implemented across the country," she said.

By the time of filing this story, she had not yet awarded the best local governments, which include Isingiro, which emerged as the overall best performer in 2022 after scoring 89%, followed by Kiruhura at 80%.

Ibanda and Kamwenge tied in third place with a score of 79%, while Mayuge came in fourth place with 73%.

Kalaki and Kapelebyong districts emerged as the worst-performing local governments, each scoring 19%.

They were closely followed by Namisindwa at 21%, Ntoroko at 23% and Amuria at 26%.
