Police in Hoima city are investigating the circumstances under which hawker Vicente, 30, was attacked by suspected iron bar hitmen.

Vicente, who later succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack, was a resident of the Kinuubi trading center in Hoima city's west division.

A source from Kinuubi Police Station said the deceased was attacked by iron bar hitmen as he was going back home at about 1:00 am on Wednesday.

Speaking via the telephone, Albertine region Police spokesperson Julius Hakiiza said the deceased was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital by a good Samaritan, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

This the deceased Joseph Kaahwa Kajabogo who was murdered by assailants in September and no suspect has been arrested

Hakiza, who condemned the attack, added that the assailants stabbed the deceased in the head with a sharp object and left him unconscious before they fled with his property, including a telephone, money, and other merchandise. He said the police are actively investigating the case and hunting for the suspects responsible for the attack.

Hoima City resident James Murungi accused the police of not doing enough in investigating cases of crime in the city.
