HARVEST MONEY | EXPO 

KAMPALA - The 2023 Harvest Money Expo is on. Today is Day 2, Saturday February 11, Vision Group is still at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, hosting guests until Sunday, February 12, 2023. 

Over 150 exhibitors are on site. The training sessions are started at 10:00am and there is already a steady flow of visitors streaming in be part of them. 

If you seek to take on an agricultural enterprise for commercial purposes, Kololo is the place for you to visit this weekend. Entrance fee is sh10,000, and those interested in the trainings will pay an extra sh10,000. 

Today’s training sessions include bee-keeping, rabbit keeping, vegetable growing and dairy farming. Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister of Agriculture will officially launch the expo. 

The Chief Executive Office at Vision Group, Don Wanyama said, “We have officially opened the expo this Friday and it is very exciting already to see a lot of traffic flocking in.

We have already had Day one’s training sessions, which were successful according to the attendance. I want to rally everybody to come and attend the expo.” 

He encouraged Ugandans, mainly farmers, to visit the expo for an opportunity to learn about the whole value chain process in agriculture, including machinery, seedlings and credit financing. “Please come for the expo, there is a lot of knowledge transfer,” he said. 

Richard Ddungu, the aquaculture scientific fish breeder at the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) advised beginners in fish farming to identify the right species of fish, good environment and research if they want to earn a living from fish-fishing.

“Many beginners have a challenge of identifying the right species of fish and at the end of the day incur losses,” he stated. 

The expo, organised by Vision Group, is sponsored by the Kingdom of Netherlands, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS), Pepsi, Engineering Solutions (ENGSOL), RIELA/ UPFRONT, Agricultural Credit Facility (ACF), Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority (UWRSA), Champrisa International and State House.
