Many Mbale city residents are upbeat about First Son Gen. Muhoozi       Kainerugaba’s arrival at St Andrew’s Cathedral today (January 22).

This is evidenced in the fact that the cathedral is filled to capacity as the prior service began at 9:00 am.

To ensure the security of the occasion, security has been deployed at the cathedral's premises and all the roads leading to and exiting it. All people thronging the church are subjected to security checks.

The ongoing service is being presided over by vicar the Very Rev. Eridad Milton Shissa.

“Today is a special day because we are hosting the First Son, Gen. Muhoozi. That is why we have a few security procedures to follow today before coming into the church,” Shissa told the Christians.

To be able to pray together with Muhoozi, Shissa urged the churchgoers of the earlier services to stay back if they so wished.

“Thanks for coming through and those of you who want to worship and praise with our visitor (Muhoozi) you are welcome to stay for the next service,” he said.

On Thursday, the Rt. Rev. Bishop John Wilson Nandaah of Mbale Diocese said all was set to host the First Son stressing that the service would be just like any other.

“Muhoozi is highly welcome to pray with us. He will only join the long list of prominent people, top politicians, who have often chosen to pray at St Andrew's Cathedral, Mbale," he said days ago.

In the build-up to this day, Muhoozi’s advance team including his mobilizers held several preparatory meetings at the cathedral to ensure the day is a success.

Earlier on in the week, Fadil Twalla (MP Tingye County, Kapchorwa) who doubles as the chief co-ordinator of the MK Army Movement, Sebei, rallied masses to join Muhoozi at the cathedral.

“Gen. Muhoozi believes that in whatever we do, the Almighty God must come first. That is why it is important for all of us to come and pray with him,” Twalla said.

After Sunday's service, there will be a meet and greet session with Bishop Nandaah, church leadership including the youth leaders and a tree-planting session.

In the last couple of days, there have been posters showing images of Muhoozi plastered on main installations, urging people to attend the service.

Muhoozi yesterday (January 21) officially launched the MK Army Movement in the neighbouring Kapchorwa district, which was attended by a multitude of people.
