Brothers of Christian instruction take vows

The congregation got six Brothers who became permanent members after taking their perpetual vows.

The Catholic Brothers of Christian Instruction, commonly known as the Brothers of Kisubi, have a reason to smile.

Their religious institute has got eight new professed members.

The congregation has also elevated 14 former postulants to the novitiate. The newly-professed members took their religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience on Saturday (December 31, 2022).

But more importantly, the congregation got six Brothers who became permanent members after taking their perpetual vows. They include Bro. Ronald Kyamanywa from Nyamigisa parish (Hoima diocese), Bro Edward Kyobe from Mitala-Maria parish (Kampala Archdiocese), Bro.

Constantino Matovu from Lweza parish (Kampala Archdiocese), Bro. Vincent Mutebi from Nkoni parish (Masaka Diocese), Bro. Deogratias Nuwagaba from St. Kaggwa parish (Mbarara Archdiocese) and Bro. Aiden Rukundo from Kyoga parish (Mbarara Archdiocese).

Six Brothers also celebrated 25 years in religious life. They include Bro. Glorian Ahimbisibwe from Mabonwa parish (Mbarara Archdiocese), Charles Agaba from Holy Trinity Kitagwenda parish (Fort Portal Diocese), Bro. Baiton Lawrence Kizza (Bukulula parish, Masaka diocese), Bro. Wilbroad Beyendeza (Ibanda parish, Mbarara Archdiocese), Bro. Eusebius Ngabirano (Bubaare parish, Mbarara Archdiocese) and Bro. Sliaco Turyatemba (Kakore parish, Kabale diocese).

Further still, the congregation got three golden jubilarians. The Brothers who celebrated their 50th anniversary in religious life include Bro. Aloysius Byaruhanga (from Kasule parish, Fort Portal diocese), Bro. Prof. Dr. Andrew Peters Yjga (Villa-Maria parish, Masaka diocese) and Bro. Bro. Francis Xavier Aganze from Kkindu parish, Maska diocese.

The respective new perpetual members and jubilarians re-committed themselves to the three evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity and obedience) before their Provincial Superior, the Very Rev. Bro. Casio Aizire, during the institute’s religions professions celebration at St. Mary’s College Kisubi on New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1, 2023).

The function took place during a solemn mass presided over by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, who during his homily, paid enormous tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction for their contribution to the Archdiocese and the country through their dynamic ministry of Christian instruction and education of children and the youth. 

The celebration ran under the theme: Witnessing Hope.
