Kilak South Member of Parliament (MP) Olanya Gilbert has praised God after being involved in a road crash on the Lira-Kamdini highway.

“It has been God, I survived a road carnage on my way to Lira ahead of a soccer battle between Lango and Toro provinces, but it is well! No injuries registered only God saves,” the Facebook post reads.

Sources say Olanya, who was travelling to Lira to drum support for Lango Province in their football game against Tooro province yesterday (Sunday, December 18), rammed into a vehicle that had also knocked another due to poor visibility on the dusty stretch of the highway.

Olanya, who was unhurt, abandoned the vehicle registration UBK 039H and proceeded to Lira and supported Lango Province which emerged victorious with 1:0 in the FUFA Drum game against Toro Province.

North Kyoga regional Police traffic officer Mathias Okwir Mulumba said he was yet to establish the facts of the accident.

Second crash

In August last year, Olanya was also involved in a nasty accident at Kyamukonda village in Nakasongola district at about 8:30pm.

Olanya was traveling from Gulu to Kampala when his vehicle registration number UAT 491K rammed into a vehicle UBB 861B Fuso that was parked on the road.
