Kalangala district Woman Member of Parliament Hellen Nakimuli has cautioned parents to be vigilant during this long-term holiday to protect their children from getting pregnant and acquiring HIV/AIDS.

She said this in an interview with a New Vision reporter.

Nakimuli noted that parents tend to give a lot of freedom to their children during holidays which tempts them to join bad peer groups.

“It is the role of parents to protect their children from getting exposed to irresponsible people whose aim is to sexually exploit children, exposing them to HIV/AIDS at a tender age,” she said Nakimuli.

She further urged parents to involve and engage them in daily working schedules, counselling, career guidance and home academic discussions.
