Civil servants whose salaries are yet to be enhanced have been urged to be patient with the Government.

Public service minister Wilson Muruli Mukasa says those who will have overreacted will get ashamed next year when the Government fulfils its promise of implementing living wages for all civil servants.

"All the remaining civil servants will see a revision in their salaries starting next year. So, every civil servant should be patient because they will all receive befitting salaries," Mukasa Muruli said.

He made the remarks while presiding over a thanksgiving ceremony on October 2, 2022. The event was organised by former Nakasongola District Woman MP Grace Tubwita in honour of her recent appointment as a commissioner of the Public Service Commission.

The function, which took place at Kisuuma village in Nakasongola district, was attended by several MPs, public service ministry officials, friends and clergymen.

Mukasa reiterated that the NRM government was determined to implement living wages for all civil servants to enable them cope  with the ever-growing cost of living.

He was responding to complaints from several speakers who pointed out that there was discrimination by the Government while enhancing public salaries.

Luwero Anglican bishop Eldard Nsubuga, who was the main celebrant, said thanksgiving was an order from God.

Nsubuga said thanksgiving is part of prayer and gives dividends to those who practice it.

Nsubuga urged all believers to always thank God for whatever happens to them including the death of their dear ones.

Tubwita said she organised the function in recognition of the numerous achievements that she had attained, including being appointed as a commissioner in the ministry of public service.

Tubwita thanked President Museveni for having appointed her.
