UPDF | RETIREMENT | ARMY
WAKISO - A total of 260 senior Uganda Peoples' Defense Forces ( UPDF) officers have officially retired from the army.
These include 62 Colonels, 65 Lt. Colonels and 133 Majors.
The Commander Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba presided over the ceremony and was the chief guest at the event. (All Photos by Miriam Namutebi)
The officers were retired on Tuesday at Bombo Barracks, during a colourful event graced by the Commander of Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Speaking during the ceremony, attended by retirees and their families, the camp commandant headquarters Land forces Bombo, Maj. Gen. Dr. Lucky Kidega, commended the retirees for their contribution toward peace and stability in Uganda.

"I salute all the retirees for a remarkable job well done. Comrades, your sacrifice, devotion for attaining peace and stability, for economic transformation of this country, cannot be taken for granted," Kidega said.
Kidega, however, urged retirees to be law-abiding citizens and maintain discipline as required by the army.
Soldiers came along with their families.
The army observed a moment of silence for one of the retirees, Col. Iga Ssejjemba who died last Sunday, at Lubaga hospital in Kampala.
The retirees have been awarded certificates in recognition of their service to the army and the country.
