Relatives and the electorate are still trying to come to terms with the sudden demise of Gordon Bafaki Omwami, the former Kazo County MP.

Bafaki, 45, a former legislator in the 10th Parliament, died in a fatal accident involving a white Toyota Land Cruiser TX, registration number UBD 965E, and a white Mercedes Benz trailer, registration number KBZ539Z/ZC 8776, at Kiwatule on the Northern Bypass.

According to a Traffic Police source at Kiwatule Police Station, the accident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at around 1:20 am.

Bafaki who was also the driver of the Land Cruiser died on spot and his body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary. Both vehicles were towed to Kiwatule Police Station pending inspection, according to the source.

Bafaki spent most of Tuesday in Kazo and Kiruhura districts where he had gone to attend a function organised by ‘Friends of MK’ (Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba) at Nyakashashara in Kiruhura district.

Peter Byamugisha, the former legislator’s political assistant, said Bafaki was first hosted at Kazo FM’s Bwashesha Tukore talk show before he headed to Nyakashashara for the function and left at around 7:00 pm heading back to Kampala.

Byamugisha said they were shocked when they received the news of his demise almost close to returning home.

Bafaki who hails from Ntambanzi, Kazo County in Kazo district, is survived by a wife Jessie Bafaki and four children.

According to Geoffrey Rurekyera, the manager of Kazo FM where he was hosted on Tuesday, between 8-9:00 am, Bafaki was in a jovial mood.

“We hosted the immediate former MP for Kazo County; the fun, the laughter and the bondage we had on the show. How do I live with such sad news that you are no more?” Rureyera’s said in a Facebook post.

It's too much!! Unbelievable!!! I don't understand!!! Am speechless!!! Am totally down!!! You have gone too soon, immediately after talking to your people of Kazo on the radio!!!,” Asiimwe Maureen Mugenyi said in a different Facebook post.
