Makerere University Stingers’ coach Dulf Musoke has expressed his gratitude to the team for the clinical work done over the two legs against the Originals.

Stingers beat KHC Originals 7-0 and 2-0 in the Uganda Cup and Musoke attributed this to teamwork.

“It’s teamwork that has enabled my team to sail over the physical KHC Originals who came in strong. But my boys proved to them that they were a class above,” stated Musoke.

Makerere University striker Mathias Akanyihayo scored three goals for the Stingers in the first fixture on Saturday and scored one in the second leg making it four goals against the Originals.

Skipper Joshua Masawi and Brian Bayule were other exceptional Stingers players that made a difference.

Bayule believes the victory over the more physical Originals side is a boost to his side as they hope to end on a high in this season’s Hockey Uganda Cup.

“Winning over the Originals is a justification of our teamwork and optimism to end this season on a high in the Uganda Cup,” Bayule said.

The Originals' defence was constantly attacked by the Stingers forwards.

Elsewhere, the game between Wananchi and Weatherhead Historicals saw Wananchi sail through to the second round since Historicals did not show up for the game after petitioning against a grievance against Wananchi that has not been responded to.
