Makindye division, a city suburb, is a conveyor belt of local music talent.  Many local artistes trace their history there and by default, most of the artistes reside there.

One such musician is Hajarah Namukwaya, popularly known as Spice Diana. 

Although she has enjoyed a stellar rise under the watchful eye of her manager, Roger Lubega, the irony is that she is now being asked to leave Makindye.

In the estimation of singer and songwriter Nince Henry, Spice Diana, whose billboard recently featured in the Times Square in America, should move to an affluent neighbourhood.

“Makindye is not a good place to live in if you are serious about being a star. It is for the upstarts who thrive on intrigue and witchcraft,” he argued.

The Killer Portion singer went as far as to suggest that Ntinda, which is home to Bebe Cool and Juliana Kanyomozi can suit Spice Diana perfectly.

He argues that there is a backward mindset in Makindye.

“I have so many friends there and I feel bad for them all the time,” Nince Henry explained.

Musicians like Radio (RIP) and Weasel, Fik Fameica, Pallaso, Eddy Kenzo, Stecia Mayanja, Feffe Bussi have a history with Makindye Division, which has a population of 154,342, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics.
