OMORO - A total of three aspirants vying for Omoro County seat have picked nomination forms.

Moses Kagona, the returning officer Omoro district confirmed that so far three candidates have picked nomination forms to contest for the vacant position of Omoro County following the death of Jacob Oulanyah Okori in March.

He mentioned the three candidates as Andrew Okot, Jolly Grace Okot and Andrew Ojok Oulanyah under the NRM party.

Kagona said two candidates have also picked nomination for vacant position of female councillor V for Lalogi/Lakwaya sub-counties.

Kagona noted that they are expecting more candidates to pick nomination forms since they close giving nominations on May 12-13, 2022 when they are nominating those who have returned their forms.

Meanwhile, Ben Accelam, who was one of the NRM aspirants who showed interest in the Omoro county seat and stepped down in favour of Ojok Oulanyah has refuted the rumour going around that he wants to contest as an independent candidate.

He says some people are tarnishing his name because he cannot go against his party president, Yoweri Museveni who asked them to step down in favour of Ojok.

Accelam stepped down following a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni at Rwakitura and the president appointed him as the special presidential advisor in charge of mobilization for Acholi sub region.

On the other hand, the FDC party on Sunday reached a consensus and picked Dick Denis Owani as their flag bearer for the Omoro county seat over Eng. Terence Odonga, the former Gulu Municipal engineer, according to chairperson FDC Omoro district, Justine Odong Obiya.

However, the National Unity Platform (NUP) are in a closed-door meeting at Kamwokya; Kampala to reach a consensus to get their flag bearer after eight aspirants have shown interest in the vacant position.
