All roads in Teso are leading to Abilayep in Serere district where the paramount chief Augustine Osuban Lemukol who died two weeks ago will be laid to rest.

The Teso community in Kenya are joining their brothers in Uganda to bury Emorimor.

The Teso local government councils yesterday converged at Serere district headquarters to pay tribute to their king.

During today's burial, a number of cultural rituals shall be performed according to William Aloch the founding secretary of Iteso Cultural Union elders group.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the chief mourner. Government accorded an official burial to Emorimor.

A team of cultural performers are also lined up to perform traditional dances such as Ekiriakiria, ajosi and akoomat.

Cultural leaders from various kingdoms are expected to attend the burial. On Thursday cultural leaders led by the first deputy prime minister of Buganda Prof. Twaha Kigongo paid tribute to their colleague.

Battle over where Emorimor should be buried

A debate on where the paramount chief of Teso, Emorimor Augustine Osuban Lemukol, should be buried is said to have raged among his subjects. The Teso cultural leader will be laid to rest today (Saturday, February, 19,2022) at his home in Abilayep, Serere district. Culturally the Iteso do not have burial grounds for their cultural king.

His subjects were not happy by the decision to have him buried in his home area and demanded that he be buried in Soroti city.

Teso mourns death of their leader 

Teso is grieving the demise of their paramount chief papa Emorimor Augustine Osuban Lemukol . The Emorimor passed on Saturday, February 2, 2022. He is said to have been bedridden for a while.
