Allan Asingwire, who represented the two organisations (Butakara Foundation and Africa Strong) while delivering the textbooks to the school administration over the weekend said they are doing this in a form of giving back to society.

Asingwire, who is an old boy of the same school noted that their efforts are geared towards creating a permanent impact on the learning environment for the pupils.

“We mobilise these funds from our friends to see that pupils at Rwemiyeje Primary school have good facilities, well-stacked library so that pupils can read extensively to widen their knowledge,” Asingwire said.

Adding that they are going to embark on training teachers through what they termed as child-centered learning as opposed to teacher-centered learning.

“In most cases, our teachers focus on seeing pupils only passing exams which is good but also they (children) need to learn holistically and we intend to roll this initiative to other schools in the district” noted Asingwire.

Edward Mbabazi, District Education Officer for Rwampara commended the support being offered to the school saying that this supplements the government’s efforts of ensuring that children at school have better facilities for learning.

Given the fact that Rwampara is a new district, most of the primary schools have not got good facilities but we get motivated when such individuals come to support the government in a bid to improve the learning environment for the pupils," Mbabazi said.

Chrissy Saasa  Kareeba, headmistress Rwemiyenje Primary School said they have been having fewer textbooks as compared to the total enrolment of the school, "Even the little we had were given to us by them but we thank God that they have added us more textbooks.

Kareba hopes that the school’s performance at Primary Leaving Examination shall continue to get better since pupils now have enough textbooks to revise.
