FDC fields 800 candidates for by-elections

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo has said they have fielded 800 candidates for the forthcoming by-elections.

While addressing the media at the party head offices in Najjankumbi, Kikonyogo said all the candidates they have fielded are to be nominated on November 29 and 30.

He said they have fielded Fatuma Nakanwagi as their candidate for Kayunga LCV district chairperson position, whom they think is going to replace Ffeffeka Sserubogo.

According to the Electoral Commission (EC), the nomination of candidates aspiring to contest in the Local Govt Council by-elections in electoral areas has started in various districts across the country.

"In Kayunga, all is set for the nomination of candidates aspiring to contest in the District Chairperson by-election," EC said in a Twitter post Monday morning.

According to EC, candidates contesting for the LC5 chairperson position will be required to present an A level certificate, payment of sh200,000 and 50 supporters who should be voters from at least two or three electoral areas.
