Suspected defiler cop remanded in Yumbe

COURT | DEFILEMENT | CRIME 

YUMBE - A police officer who was arrested over allegations of defilement has been remanded to Arua Government prisons until November 18, 2021, when he will appear before the High Court for trial. 

32-year-old Kamure Alicemari attached to Yumbe Central Police Station under the health unit was arrested for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl at the police health centre II when the victim went for health service on September 30th, 2021. 

Appearing before Grade One Magistrates' Court in Yumbe, Magistrate Hillary Kiwanuka charged the police officer with aggravated defilement. 

Bernard Moro, the father of the victim applauded the magistrate for the step saying it gives him relief and hope. 

The same court also remanded one Kawawa Rashid a 45-year-old resident of Bachu village, Chema Parish Odravu sub county in Yumbe district to Arua Government Prison until November 18, 2021 over allegations of defiling his sister's daughter who is 17 years old.
