The Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican diocese of Mukono, the Rt. Rev Elia Paul Luzinda and his wife Florence Wannyana Luzinda have several reasons to smile and say thank you to God their creator. 

They have made 10 years of marriage, during which God has also given them the special gift of triplets. 

The Luzindas also recall with enormous gratitude to God their miraculous protection; gangsters broke into their residence and took off with their vehicle, but without harming them. 

Bishop Luzinda also smiles widely as he recalls his amazing surgical recovery; he got an abdominal illness, which prompted the doctors to cut off a portion of his intestine. 

Luzinda is also so happy that on September 17, he turned 76 years.

It is in acknowledgement of these and many other divine blessings that the Luzindas found it right and just to organize a thanksgiving function, to express their gratitude to God.

The function started with a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe. 

The service was presided over by the Bishop Emeritus of Central Buganda, the Rt. Rev. Jackson Matovu, who interestingly is also their Bestman. Matovu represented Archbishop Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.

The function was also graced by other Anglican Prelates including Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira of Namirembe Diocese, Bishop Elidard Nsubuga of Luweero, Bishop Emeritus Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde, Bishop James William Ssebaggala of Mukono, Bishop Samuel George Bogere Egesa of Bukedde, Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi (the Dean of Namirembe Cathedral), to mention a few.

After the thanksgiving service, the Luzindas hosted their guests at a reception at Mengo Senior School. 

The guests were entertained by Solomon’s choir, an Adventist musical group.
