“I love children and I had actually prayed for triplets. So, when the doctor told me he was seeing twins, I screamed with joy,” Kibwika recalls.

The severe twin pregnancy symptoms are still vivid for Beatrice Kibwika.

At two weeks, Kibwika had started experiencing pregnancy symptoms that were unusual, which were different from those of a single-baby pregnancy.

“I experienced terrible stomach pain, severe fatigue and nausea, which made me frequent hospital,” she said.

At about three months, she did a scan that confirmed she was carrying twins. The news of a twin pregnancy caused a lot of excitement.

“I love children and I had actually prayed for triplets. So, when the doctor told me he was seeing twins, I screamed with joy,” Kibwika recalls.

She carried her pregnancy without any major complication, but had to be delivered by caesarean section after developing pre-eclampsia.

The babies, Jalya Britta Lydia and Jayden Clive Mike were born on January 19, 2017.

Kibwika says the twins have been close from the day they were born.

“It was difficult to separate the twins. So, while sleeping they would get close to each other which enabled them to sleep longer,” she recollects.

The habit of staying closer has stuck. When they started school, the teachers put them in different classes, but they demanded to be in one class. They love, care for each other and share everything.

“Even when you give Jayden a snack while the sister is sleeping, he will not eat it, until she wakes up,” she notes.
