The Masaka City Resident Commissioner, Fred Bamwine, has dismissed allegations that he is enforcing new measures on the people of Masaka in a bid to combat the spread of Covid-19, contrary to those issued by the President.

Bamwine called for the closure of all shopping centres popularly known as Bikuubo and directed bodabodas off their stages to wait for cargo in their homes.

He said that what he is doing in Masaka is ensuring that all the guidelines issued by the president are fully enforced.

Bamwine added that Masaka has lost 30 people to Covid-19 in the last two weeks and up to 540 people have tested positive, therefore, he cannot look on as the numbers continue to rise.
