The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Christophe Lutundula Apala, is in Uganda for a visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.

According to a communique from the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Apala, who started his visit on Thursday that ends on Saturday, is here to “further bolster the cordial bilateral relations and deepen cooperation between the two countries.”

Apala’s visit is a follow-up on the implementation of the Joint Permanent Commission and Joint Communique which was signed between President Yoweri Museveni and President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi during his visit to Uganda on November 9 –10, 2019.

The development also comes when Uganda and DR Congo agreed on joint security operations against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels who are wreaking havoc in Eastern DR Congo.

The Ugandan army has already entered DR Congo for the operations.

Also, Uganda agreed with DR Congo to construct 200 kilometres of roads into DR Congo to ease transport between the two countries.
