Christians on Monday, May 3 gathered at Lubaga Cathedral to remember the late Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

The emotional mass was led by Chancellor of Kampala, Fr Dr Pius Male Ssentumbwe who was assisted by chaplain of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Msgr Lawrence Ssemusu and vice Chancellor, Fr Dr Richard Mwebe.   

Archbishop Lwanga died of a heart attack at age 68 on April 3.

The late Archbishop Lwanga, who led the archdiocese of Kampala for 14 years, died suddenly.

While preaching at Lubaga, Fr Male said today marked a month since Archbishop Lwanga passed on.

 The late Archbishop Lwanga was born on January 19, 1953 and he was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Kampala in 1978. He was appointed Bishop of Kasana-Luweero in 1996, when the seat was erected from the Kampala archdiocese, and he was consecrated a bishop on March 1, 1997.  In 2006, he was appointed Archbishop of Kampala.
