The reason for the increased fuel prices has been attributed to global crude oil prices.

Crude oil, which is refined to produce usable products such as diesel and petrol, has the highest weight in determining the pump prices.

Reactions from people on the prices

Ivan Agana, taxi driver, from Luzira to Kampala route said the fuel cost has created a vacuum in the business since the increase of fuel prices.

“I used to refuel at sh10,000 that takes me and brings me back but I now refuel at sh12,000. This is not fair to our business therefore I ask the Government to look into the common person’s business,” he said.

Ben Okurut, boda boda rider at Kireka stage said customers are very sensitive to price changes, which has slowed down business this month.

“Sometimes I just seat at the stage without business. If I tell my customers about the hike in fuel, they insist on paying a lower price,” he said.
