Gov’t gives Park Yard vendors sh1b

The Government has given sh1b to Park Yard vendors who lost their merchandise in the Wednesday morning fire.

The message for the aid was delivered by defense minister Dr. Crispus Kiyonga in a meeting with vendors.

While delivering the President’s message, Kiyonga asked the vendors to constitute a committee that will work with government on the modalities to access the funds.

President Yoweri Museveni is in Nigeria for three-day working visit.

Park Yard market an extension of St. Balikuddembe market, formerly called Owino, went up in flames at about 4am. This is the fourth time the market catches fire.

The inferno left property worth millions of shillings burnt. Police have launched investigations into the cause of the inferno.
Owino is Kampala's s largest outdoor market with over 500,000 vendors.
