It feels bad to give birth to a completely blind child but as if that’s not enough, Shadia Nakigudde’s first born got involved in an accident and lost an eye.
Shadia Nakigudde of Sennyange village in Masaka municipality gave birth to a completely blind baby girl Farida Nakalyango.
Nakigudde a business woman operating in Nyendo town also in Masaka municipality had to look for all possible avenues to ensure her baby girl gets a chance of seeing.
She came across Georgina Eye Clinic in Kampala where Dr. Juliet Otit gave her a word of hope that her girl had a chance to have her sight corrected.
“I was asked to pay sh10m for each of her eyes to have a corneal transplant so that she can see the light of day but I have nowhere to begin from,” Nakigudde told New Vision adding that it was too much money she had never thought of getting in life.
The young girl therefore needs sh20m to correct her sight.
According to Dr. Otit, Nakalyango's problem could be corrected in Kampala if the funds were available.
Nakigudde’s worries increased day by day when her first borne (now three years old) got involved in an accident and lost one of her eyes earlier last year.
She calls for good Samaritans to assist her in mobilizing for the money to help the baby girl have at least one of her eyes opened.
