I'll stay discreet for my kids, in-laws' peace - Pr Bugingo

“Apart from my famous daughter you know, I have other children who are not popular and these are not the last ones as I am still getting others,” he said.

KAMPALA - It is a sunny hot day. Hundreds of believers are loudly singing praising and worship songs led by an energetic choir dressed in light blue for ladies and cream shirts and black trousers for men.

This was the situation at House of Prayers Ministries International (HPMI) in Kampala on Sunday.

At noon, the church was charged up after Pr. Bugingo ascended to the pulpit and took over the lead role in the praise and worship.

Surprisingly, in attendance was Pr. Bugingo's wife Pr. Teddy Naluswa Bugingo who arrived at the church amidst cheering from the congregation.

The two have been in the spotlight in the past days following marriage and property scuffle.

Pr. Bugingo had told Christians at his church that Teddy and their daughter Doreen wanted to take control of the church property in a deceitful manner.

However, Teddy told the press that Bugingo with whom they have been married for 29 years and have four children wants to forcefully divorce her to marry another woman.

While preaching, Pr. Bugingo said he will be discreet concerning what is going on between him and his wife Teddy Bugingo. He said he is doing this for the peace of not only his current and future children but also his in-laws.

"Apart from my famous daughter you know, I have other children who are not popular and these are not the last ones as I am still getting others," he said.

"I kept quiet from the start that even my best friend does not know because I did not grow up in a noisy family. I will never utter out any statements that will take away my children's peace," he added.

He explained that in the Pastoralists culture where he grew up, there was battering of women and children as men had sticks for this. He, however, said there is no single day that he heard his grandmother who brought him up mentioning this to any of their neighbours.

"Sometimes, we learn by observation, therefore, due to the respect I give the families that brought me up, let me respect my family as well," he said.

He added that he does not blame any of his children or woman for whatever they say adding that he can never control anyone but will control himself.

Pr. Bugingo who sounded calm apologised to the country especially all those that have been affected by the scandal, however, said he does not know when the scandal will end.

"I am not surprised with what is going on, as I knew about the matter from way back and stayed away from social media as it is easy to make mistakes," he said.

He thereafter assured God who he said lifted up his name from wherever he was that he will never do anything to tarnish it.

He further urged Christians in the Church to always stay focused in the Church as they avoid listening to people who want to destroy it.

Pr. Bugingo added that as the storm was blowing hard, Judas Iscariot went, connived with the church's enemies, however, and hanged himself to death in the end.

He, therefore, warned all those conniving with the people that are fighting the church because they are paid to tannish its name that they will end up like Judas Iscariot as there is no act without a price.
