Background

Government of Uganda has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project (ARSDP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultancy services. The Consultancy services include Preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Reports & Resettlement Action Plans for Selected Roads in Buliisa and Hoima Districts and Renovation of Buliisa Town Council Offices. The ARSDP is a World Bank-funded project implemented by three entities, that is, The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (MLHU&D), and Ministry of Education & Sports. The Project responds to the recent discovery of commercial quantities of oil and gas in the Albertine Graben Region, an "emerging sector which will feature prominently in Uganda's development in the decades to come.
