Wanok told the graduands that true victory was not in the academic papers that they had received, but in God, who is the source of all knowledge, truth and life.

MPIGI - The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nebbi, the Rt Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok, has urged graduands of Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi (UMU) to live out the values that they have learnt at the University.

He expressed concern over the rampant immoral acts, mainly by young educated people, which he said had put the future of the Church and the country in uncertainty.

"Do not turn upside-down the values you have received. By attending this University, which was named after the Uganda Martyrs, you have been cultured into the values of the martyrs. So, you must not entertain immoral acts like avarice and pride. People are expecting you to bear fruit of the spirit. Please mind your dress code. No employer is interested in hiring indecently dressed people. People are fed up of with mini-skirts," Wanok stressed.

He was presiding over the thanksgiving mass for the 23rd Graduation Ceremony of Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi, which took place at the university's main campus  in Mpigi district on Friday.

Wanok told the graduands that true victory was not in the academic papers that they had received, but in God, who is the source of all knowledge, truth and life.

"Associate the power of knowledge you have god with God, who is the source of power. Education is submission to the truth of God.  Show the fruits of your education by lavishing love, joy, kindness, patience, generosity, modesty and self-control."

The gradation was presided over by the university's vice-chancellor, Fr Prof. John Chrysostom Maviiri, who conferred bachelor's and master's degrees, diplomas and certificates to 802 graduands.
