16 Tanzanians killed in Mpigi accident

At least 16 Tanzanian nationals have been killed and 7 others sustained injuries in a road accident at Katonga, Mpigi District along Kampala-Masaka Road.

The Sunday 8:00pm tragedy occurred after a Masaka-Kampala bound lorry registration number UAH 970P rammed into a min-bus registration number T540 DLC.

The min-bus was carrying Tanzanians who were from attending a wedding ceremony of Prof. Charles Ibingira's son in Kampala. The dead are in-laws of the Ibingiras. Ibingira's son tied a knot with a Tanzanian national.

 

Katonga Region Police spokesperson, Philip Mukasa, said the victims were transferred to Nsambya Hospital.

Deputy Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said the bodies were taken to Mulago Hospital.
