Tooro 2017 tourism expo commences ahead of 22nd coronation anniversary

The 2017 Tooro Kingdom tourism expo started on Friday, with several exhibitors assembling at the palace and was commissioned by the king of Tooro, Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda Wild life Authority in collaboration with Tooro kingdom tourism ministry hosted  50 tourism planners and sellers who comprise of tour operators, cultural leaders  and tourism business leaders from the whole country.

This expo, according to Anna Bagaya, the Tooro kingdom tourism minister, is aimed at raising the profile of Uganda as a preferred destination, both domestically and regionally.

 "We have 100 exhibitors, media practitioners, about 10 tourism boards, airlines, hotels, tour and travel companies and insurers, all coming here," Gilbert Mwesige an organizer said.

The expo will climax with UTB and all other tourism and business entities exhibiting on Saturday and will be crowned by the Uganda Excellence Awards which aim at recognising and appreciating different individuals, companies, organisations, and institutions for their relentless efforts in developing Uganda's tourism industry.
