Weatherhead's all-important 2-1 win against Rockets Saturday at Lugogo ensured they remained within touching distance of unscathed leaders Kampala as the first round of the National Hockey League ended Sunday.

Efforts from coach player Vincent Kasasa and Benon Lukyamuzi kept the side's hopes of winning the somewhat elusive title alive under no-walk circumstances. Shafiq Muleme had taken matters on level after scoring in the 42 minute.

"consistence is key and it's good the boys have slowly shown that they can keep it up. We hope to start the second round stronger " said Vincent Kasasa, coach Weatherhead

Doreen Asiimwe scored a hattrick as Wananchi came cruising past Weatherhead in a one sided affair. Wananchi finish unbeaten on 12 points, 3 above  Weatherhead who have lost one game.

Siddy Alum's double guided Weatherhead to a 2-0 win Sunday in one of the rescheduled games following one of the different incidents where the pitch has been hired out by NCS for non-hockey activities.

It should be remembered that the hockey season started late than expected and certainly a backlog of rescheduled games can only comprise the season action.
