KAMPALA - The Ugandan parliament has honoured world champion David Emong for his gold-winning exploits in the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London.

The ever-grinning Emong made his way to parliament on Wednesday, where he was duly recognized for his most recent achievement on the global stage.

Superman! SuperEmong!

The paralympic sliver-medallist wore a black track suit and spread the Ugandan flag over his shoulders, with portraits of past Speakers of the Ugandan parliament hanging on either side of the maroon-carpeted hallway.

Emong's fete in London on July 15, 2017 earned a place in Uganda's history books as the first ever gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships. And what better way to enter the glory books than in golden fashion!

Emong was accompanied into the parliamentary chambers, with the Ugandan flag draped over his shoulders and his gold medal hanging over his neck. He appeared delighted to receive such fully-deserved honour.

Upon his return from London, the National Council of Sports rewarded Emong with a plot of land, sh5m and another sh500,000 monthly stipend.
