FIFA ban affects Ugandan players in Sudan

FIFA banned Sudan after their government intervened in the affairs of the FA.

Uganda Cranes players Hamis Kiiza and Jamal Salim Magoola who are plying their trade in Sudan have been affected by the FIFA ban on the Sudan FA.

Kiiza  features for Al Hilal Obeid who had qualified for CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals while Magoola's El Merrick were supposed to face El Étoile Sportive du Sahelof Tunisia.

FIFA banned Sudan after their government intervened in the affairs of the FA. 

"We are obliged to inform you that the SFA (Sudan Football Association) is suspended in accordance with the decision of the Bureau of the FIFA Council. The SFA representative and club teams are no longer entitled to take part in international competitions until the ban is lifted," read part of the suspension letter signed by Secretary General Fatma Samoura.

Al Hilal Obeid who had already arrived in Zambia ahead of their Sunday clash with Zesco United were topping Group C in the Confederation Cup with ten points while El Merrick needed to beat El Étoile Sportive du Sahel today  to qualify to the last eight of the CAF Champions league.
