My pigs took me to the Netherlands

"People despise pigs for being dirty, but see where they have brought me,” said Clara Anzoa from Moyo.

"I had never dreamt that keeping pigs would ever bring me here in the Netherlands," said Clara Anzoa from Moyo as her group of 2016 best farmers started their 6 day tour of the Netherlands.

"And you see, people despise pigs for being dirty, but see where they have brought me," said Anzoa.

The farmers left Entebbe Airport aboard KLM Airlines at 11:35pm. Most of them, first time fliers were obviously excited by the trip.

The best farmers' competition is sponsored by KLM Airlines, DFCU Bank, the Embassy of the Netherlands and Vision Group. This is the third group to visit the Netherlands.

"God is great," exclaimed Joy Mugisha from Sheema, in Western Uganda.

"This is a completely new development in my life," said George Batwawula from Kamuli.

The eight hour flight was eventful. Some of the farmers spent it watching videos, while others decided to sleep.

On landing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the farmers were received by members of Emerging Markets Africa and Business and Investment Africa, Micheal Hillen and Zeinab Dauda.

The farmers were then driven 40kms to The Hague, to the magnificent Court Garden Hotel in Hague.

The farmers had a tour of the beach off the North Sea in The Hague and had dinner at the Latin Rodizio Restaurant, near the beach.

On Monday, the farmers will start visiting farmers and dealers in agri-related implements across the Netherlands.
