Onyango calls on Cranes to stay focused

Cranes returned in high spirits after beating Cape Verde 1-0

 

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango has cautioned his fellow players to remain focused ahead of the team's upcoming matches.

Onyango made the remarks after the team returned from Cape Verde in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

"We responded positively despite the challenges encountered before the game. I thank the gallant players and technical team as well for the job well done. Let us stay focused for the job ahead of us," stated Onyango.

Cranes returned in high spirits after beating Cape Verde 1-0 in the 2019 AFCON Qualifier on Sunday courtesy of Geoffrey Sserunkuma's goal.

A delegation led by FUFA president Moses Magogo touched down at Entebbe International aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 336 from Addis Ababa at 3am.

They were received by FUFA official such as 1st vice president Justus Mugisha, CEO Edgar Watson, Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu, executive committee member Hamid Juma and director of finance Decolas Kiiza among others.

Cranes that is in Group L with Cape Verde, Lesotho and Tanzania will now shift their focus to the CHAN 2018 preparations as well as 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

Uganda plays South Sudan in a two legged CHAN 2018 first round qualifier next month.

Thereafter they will host Egypt in August in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kampala.
