Cabbage production goes up

With the onset of the rains, the supply of cabbages to the market has increased, leading to a fall in prices.

An large cabbage is still selling at a retail price of sh1,000-sh1,500 at Kalerwe, Kawempe, Kasubi and Nakawa markets.

Medium-sized ones cost sh1,000 each and the small ones cost between sh700 to sh500 each.  ​

The vegetable that was known for only two seasons, that is, March to May and September to December in Uganda has for the past four months, has been in fair supply.

Most Ugandans enjoy it in its thinly sliced form as a salad or with a meal.

Cabbages in Uganda are mainly grown in the districts of Mityana, Kisoro, Masaka and Kabale.
