Kindernothilfe Germany has been supporting the promotion of Self- help Groups Approach in Uganda through the host of the Self Help Groups National Coordination Office by PKF Uganda. The Self Help Group Approach is Right Based Approach, which views poverty as the denial of rights and poverty alleviation as a process of reclaiming one's rights. Given the multidimensional nature of poverty, the Self Help Groups Approach puts equal emphasis on economic, social and political empowerment of the poorest of the poor. It offers a framework and guidance for establishing a ‘People's Institution' which provides an environment of trust and cooperation in which people come to realize that they are able to help themselves to achieve the economic, social and political empowerment.
